Sony Xperia S review

Sony Xperia S review

The X-peria S has a very premium build quality.Xperia S seems to have everything in place - good hardware, excellent built quality and design and a very good display.

Battery:1750mAh

Sony decides to start off with a bang and the Xperia S comes with impressive items such as an HD display, 12megapixel camera and a dual-core .At first look on the phone it  looks like just another one of these slabs but Sony has put in enough detail to it.

DISPLAY

The glass deftly conceals the display below and it’s hard to see its boundaries once it gets switched off.It sports a beautiful design and comes with some big upgrades from last-years' models like 12MP camera and 720p display. There are a few strange design choices here though. Firstly, the rear has a small Sony Ericsson emblem on the bottom, unusual considering the two companies have now parted ways.

Below the display is one of the most interesting design element, not just on this phone but on any we have ever seen. It’s a thin strip of see-through glass that separates majority of the phone from a thin plastic chin at the bottom. Floating within the glass you can see icons for the three main function keys – Back, Home and Menu – but you don’t actually press the icons to actuate them. The actual pressure points are placed above the glass strip and below the display and indicated by three tiny dots.

Camera

Sony Xperia S comes with a 12MP rear camera with f2.4 aperture, along with 1080p video recording support. As you can expect from Sony, the Xperia S camera performs brilliantly and takes some nice and detailed shots. Be the indoor clicks or outdoor shots, Xperia S does not disappoint.First off, the hardware key will take you straight to the camera, even if the phone is locked.Camera is placed bit far at the top.Can take 3D panorama shots as well.In night videos, you'll get a whole lot of noise and the zooming effect isn't very smooth either.

Design

On the right side, you will find the two-stage shutter button, volume rocker, and HDMI port, while the left houses the USB-cum-charging port.

Battery place

Another disappointment with Xperia S is the fixed battery. Although the back cover is removable, the battery is still not user-replaceable.
